B.C. WEEK KICKS OFF AT SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO
VANCOUVER – British Columbia is again front-and-centre on the world’s stage as B.C. Week begins at the Shanghai World Expo’s Canadian Pavilion.

SLOW DOWN AND ARRIVE SAFELY THIS LONG WEEKEND
VICTORIA – Aggressive driving and speeding is a deadly combination seen all too often on British Columbia highways. As the Labour Day weekend starts, motorists are reminded to obey posted speed limits so workers and holiday-makers can enjoy a safe long weekend.

GOVERNMENT SET TO TARGET B.C.’S WORST SPEEDERS
VICTORIA – As many drivers prepare to hit the road for the last long weekend of the summer, the B.C. government is urging drivers to use caution and warning B.C.’s worst speeders that effective Sept. 20, new impoundment rules come into effect for those travelling 40 km or more over the posted speed limit.

BC ARTS COUNCIL RECEIVES ADDITIONAL FUNDING
VICTORIA – The British Columbia Arts Council will administer $7 million in funding provided through the B.C. government’s 2010 Sports and Arts Legacy to support their Strategic Plan, Kevin Krueger, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts announced.

B.C. INVESTS $5.2M TO INCREASE SKILLS TRAINING ACCESS
VICTORIA – The Province is investing $5.2 million for a second year of training programs, to help almost 1,000 unemployed and low-skilled British Columbians acquire the skills they need to transition back to the labour force, get a better job, or further their education.
