Safety Standards Appeal Board now also hearing
Homeowner Protection Act appeals
The Safety Standards Appeal Board, established under the Safety Standards Act, will now also hear appeals from decisions made about residential builders licensing and owner builder authorizations under the Homeowner Protection Act. The Board will hear these appeals using the same powers and processes as it currently uses to hear appeals under the Safety Standards Act.
Giving the Board the responsibility to hear these appeals takes advantage of the Board’s expertise in reviewing decisions related to building safety and has the added benefit of using the Board’s existing registry and resources, including the Board’s new facilities to conduct hearings using video conferencing technology, to file and process the appeals.
