GOVERNMENTS PROVIDE CERTAINTY TO B.C. PRODUCERS

OTTAWA – The Government of Canada is working with British Columbia to deliver programs for Canadian farm families through the Growing Forward initiative. While that progress continues, some existing programs under the Agricultural Policy Framework (APF) will be extended for up to one year, starting April 1, 2008.

FREE CROWN GRANT PRESERVES PARK AND TREES IN SURREY

SURREY – The Province has transferred 31 hectares (approximately 77 acres) of land worth a total of $7 million to the City of Surrey for public park purposes, Surrey-Tynehead MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism and Immigration Dave S. Hayer announced today, on behalf of Agriculture and Lands Minister Pat Bell.

PROVINCE TAKES ACTION AGAINST INVASIVE PLANTS

PRINCE GEORGE – British Columbia is taking provincewide action to protect our valuable land resource against invasive plants with increased funding and a new Invasive Plant Management Program, announced Minister of Agriculture and Lands Pat Bell while presenting a $250,000 cheque to the Northwest Invasive Plant Council (NWIPC).
