The provincial government is committed to improving the lives of Aboriginal people, and to improving the participation of Aboriginal people in the economy. Underscoring these commitments is the knowledge that government must work in partnership with Aboriginal people to identify shared goals, strategic outcomes and progress.

The Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation's policy approach for government to work in partnership with Aboriginal people includes efforts to support and increase Aboriginal management and control over programs and services.

We are investing in First Nations by providing them with a way to get the tools, training and skills they need to reduce dependence on consultants from outside of their communities, and to create self-reliance, prosperity and certainty.
