The New Relationship Trust

In March 2006, the Province enacted the New Relationship Trust Act, establishing a corporation whose purpose is to support First Nation capacity-building. The Province then provided $100-million to the corporation. This unique, $100-million contribution will help First Nations to build institutional and community capacity to engage with the Province on land and resource management processes and other matters affecting the economic, cultural and social well-being of their communities. The Trust is managed by a board of directors, independent from government.
