Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation George Abbott addressed past and present participants and supporters at the 15th Anniversary celebration of Bladerunners in GM Place. This award-winning program helps at-risk youth between ages 15-30 gain the skills they need to take control over their futures and develop career opportunities.

Minister Abbott Announces $14 Million for Bladerunners – November 13, 2009
Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation George Abbott joined Minister of State for the Olympics and ActNow BC Mary McNeil and Musqueam Elder Jule Thomas at the 15th Anniversary of Bladerunners in GM Place. Minister Abbott announced $14 million in new funding over five years to expand this employment program to 600 at-risk youth.

Torch Relay On Haida Gwaii – November 3, 2009
Minister Abbott looks on as the flame is lit in the Olympic cauldron on Haida Gwaii/ Queen Charlotte Islands.
The minister joined hundreds of community members at torch relay celebrations, where the flame was delivered to the shores of Skidegate by the Haida Nation in a canoe carved by world famous Haida artist Bill Reid.

Artist Gifts Handcrafted Leadership Desk to B.C. – October 29, 2009
Premier Gordon Campbell and Aboriginal artist Arthur Vickers stand behind the Premier's new handcrafted desk. The Leadership Desk is created from old growth red cedar in the form of a bentwood box and adorned with First Nations iconography. The desk will be kept in perpetuity for generations to come.

Aboriginal Leaders and Ministers Agree to Work Together – October 29, 2009
Minister George Abbott met with Aboriginal ministers from across Canada and the leaders of five national Aboriginal organizations to establishing a working group to improve socio-economic conditions for all Aboriginal peoples. The new group will focus on education and skills training and economic development.

The Pavilion is located in the plaza at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver and will showcase Aboriginal culture to the world during the 2010 Games.
