B.C. STUDENTS TOP RANKED AT SKILLS CANADA COMPETITION
June 22, 2009, Minister Moira Stilwell recognized Skills Canada “Team B.C.” students who achieved top ranking at the provincial and national Skills Competitions as part of a celebration of trades and technology. Forty-three secondary and post-secondary students on Team B.C. earned an unprecedented 12 gold, three silver and four bronze medals at the competition. [News release]

VICTORIA – B.C. students who earned medals at the provincial and national Skills Canada Competitions were recognized as part of a celebration of trades and technology, announced Education Minister Margaret MacDiarmid and Advanced Education and Labour Market Development Minister Moira Stilwell.

$17M SKILLS PROGRAM TO HELP SMALL BUSINESS RECRUITMENT
VICTORIA – The Province is investing $17 million in 10 projects around B.C. to improve the skills of people who are either unemployed or under-qualified, providing small businesses with new training resources to meet their labour demands.

The ministry supports the province's social and economic prosperity through post-secondary education, labour force development and immigration programs that enable British Columbians to compete in the twenty-first century.
