Education Minister Shirley Bond was joined by Minister of Healthy Living and Sport Mary Polak and Minister of Technology, Trade and Economic Development Ida Chong to mark International Walk to School Day at Frank Hobbs Elementary school and challenged B.C. schools across the province to go "green" by setting up a walking school bus or bicycle train to reduce their carbon footprint. Walking school buses and bicycle trains function like a conventional school bus by making predetermined stops to pick up and drop off students on the way to and from school. ABBOTSFORD – One of the province’s newest StrongStart BC centres has officially opened at the Aboriginal Education Centre in the Abbotsford school district, Abbotsford-Mount Lehman MLA Michael de Jong and Abbotsford-Clayburn MLA John Van Dongen announced.
