Ministry of Citizens' Services

Technology Solutions - Workplace Support Services

On December 12, 2003 the ministry issued a Joint Solution Request for Proposal (JSRFP) for the design and delivery of a new Workplace Support Services model that would effectively reduce government’s operating costs and implement improved and standardized service levels and equipment.

On December 3, 2004 the Province entered into a long-term agreement with IBM Canada for the service delivery, hardware supply and support for 26,800 workstations across the province.

Workplace Support Services now provides standardized desktop and laptop computers, software, printers and other peripheral hardware for core government and some broader public sector entities for approximately 39,000 computers.

Benefits include improving service levels that are enforceable, enhanced security for workstations, efficient updating and maintenance of equipment and ongoing cost savings.

Over the ten year term the agreement is worth approximately $300 million and will provide over $80 million in financial benefits to government.

Benefits:
More efficient roll-out of updates to software and hardware

Better management of resources

Improved and enforced service levels ensures quality
