$3 MILLION MEANS UVIC CAN ASSIST MORE DISABLED
VICTORIA – A $3 million provincial grant will allow the University of Victoria’s CanAssist to expand their leading-edge technology program and help more British Columbians with disabilities, announced Claude Richmond, Minister of Employment and Income Assistance, and Murray Coell, Minister of Advanced Education.

$500,000 GRANT AIDS DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING
VANCOUVER – The Province has provided $500,000 to the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for low-tech assistive hearing devices to help British Columbians with a hearing loss, announced Employment and Income Assistance Minister Claude Richmond.

MAP FUNDING BENEFITS STREET-LEVEL SEX TRADE WORKERS
VICTORIA – Some of the most vulnerable women working in the sex trade in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) will continue to receive services through the Mobile Access Project (MAP), thanks to $190,000 from the Province. The funding was announced today by Ida Chong, Minister of Community Services and Minister responsible for Seniors’ and Women’s Issues.
