BC Mining Plan: Report on Progress Demonstrates Progress,
Benefits to B.C.

The BC Mining Plan: Report on Progress outlines the progress in achieving the goals of the BC Mining Plan, our plan for a successful mineral exploration and mining sector.
It includes a checklist of actions taken to achieve a mining industry that is:
- thriving, globally competitive, safe and environmentally responsible.
These actions will create:
- a strong, sustainable mining industry, more jobs and benefits to First Nations and communities.
Over 95 per cent of the action items in the BC Mining Plan are completed or in progress. Out of 57 commitments:
- 29 actions are completed, 26 are in progress and two are scheduled to begin in 2007.
Most of these action items fall under four cornerstones:
- Focus on Communities and First Nations
- 7 actions complete
- 2 actions in progress
- Protecting Workers, Protecting the Environment
- 7 actions complete
- 4 in progress
- Global Competitiveness
- 11 actions complete
- 8 in progress
- Access to Land
- 3 actions complete
- 4 in progress
The Report on Progress translates cornerstones into results, and demonstrates success in developing a sustainable, responsible mining sector that will:
- increase investment, create jobs and produce economic benefits for the entire province.
