B.C.'s Natural Gas Strategy

The Province of British Columbia released its Natural Gas strategy and complementary strategy focusing specifically on the development of a brand-new LNG sector on February 3, 2012.  British Columbia’s Natural Gas Strategy builds on the foundation of the BC Jobs Plan to create long-term economic prosperity.

A vibrant, diverse natural gas sector will create more opportunities for B.C – jobs, investment, and opportunity – and will support a clean, safe and secure energy future for all British Columbians.

B.C. also has a vision of becoming be a global leader in secure and sustainable natural gas investment, development and export.

Liquefied Natural Gas Strategy

As part of the Province’s Natural Gas Strategy, an accompanying strategy was released for British Columbia’s development of an LNG industry.

This strategy details British Columbia’s commitment to LNG exports, and outlines the principles that will guide the delivery of this new industry:

  • Remain competitive in a global LNG industry
  • Maintain leadership on climate change and clean energy
  • Keep energy rates affordable
