George Massey Tunnel Shuttle for Cyclists

Last updated on April 17, 2024

Cyclists are not permitted to travel through the George Massey Tunnel. A free shuttle service is available to travel safely from one side of the tunnel to the other. Or travel through the tunnel with TransLink—all buses that travel through the tunnel have racks for two bikes.

Pick-up/Drop-off

Southbound pick-up/Northbound drop-off: on service road east of Highway 99, north of Rice Mill Road at the signed shoulder pick-up location. Access the service road via No. 5 Road and Rice Mill Road.

Northbound pick-up/Southbound drop-off: on Highway 17A/62B Street, north side of the interchange, on the southbound side of 17A at the signed shoulder pick-up location.

Shuttle Capacity

  • The trailer accommodates up to eight standard, unloaded bikes.
  • If there are more than seven passengers, the driver will return to pick up the overflow.

Tandem Bikes

  • The trailer can also accommodate tandem bikes.
  • One tandem bike takes the same amount of space as three standard bikes.

Electric Bikes

The bike racks can accommodate electric bicycles under the following conditions:

  • The bike weighs less than 25 kg (55 lbs).
  • Wheels fit properly in the bike rack.
  • The bike includes a lithium battery.
  • Customers must remove the battery and bring it onboard the shuttle.
  • Scooter-style electric bikes are not permitted on bike racks. They weigh too much and don't fit properly on the rack.
