Minister Abbott celebrated Blood Donor Week on October 17 by donating blood. Pictured with the Minister is Deputy Speaker and Kelowna Mission MLA Sindi Hawkins, who is continuing to recover from leukemia and Maureen Berard, another blood donor recipient. Hawkins, a regular blood donor, relied on donated blood when going through her intensive cancer treatment. "My message is it takes one hour every two months," said Hawkins. "One unit can save up to three lives. I don't think that's too much to ask." Blood Donor week runs October 17-22.
