On May 5, 2006, Minister Abbott officially opened a new cardiac catheterization lab at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH). The state-of-the-art technology produces clearer images of the heart and coronary vessels, increasing accuracy of the diagnosis. The new system also reduces radiation to the patient and staff by 50 per cent. The KGH Cardiac Cath Lab is the only one of its kind in Interior Health, serving patients from across the region as well as Northern BC.
