On July 13, 2006, Minister George Abbott and Minister Ida Chong opened the expanded Single Room Maternity Care Unit at B.C. Women's Hospital and Health Centre. ""This allows women to go through labour, delivery and post-birth care all in the same room, making the experience more comfortable and allowing families to spend more time together,"" said Abbott.
