On May 10, 2006, Minister Abbott celebrated National Nursing Week. The celebration included the announcement of a $26 million investment in the BC Nursing Strategy. This brings the total investment since 2001 to $146 million. The event featured excerpts from Florence: The Lady and the Lamp, an opera being performed in Vancouver based on the pioneer of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.
