On October 25, 2008, Health Services Minister George Abbott joined hospital staff, community leaders and residents of northern Haida Gwaii to celebrate the grand opening of the Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre. The new $10.99-million centre replaces the older Masset Hospital and will ensure that residents of northern Haida Gwaii receive quality health-care services.
