B.C. INVESTS $27.4M IN HOUSING FOR HOMELESS IN VICTORIA

$3.2M SENIORS’ HOUSING BREAKS GROUND IN CHETWYND
CHETWYND – Both assisted living and low-income seniors will have access to a total of 12 units of affordable housing at Surerus Place, the first Olympic Legacy Affordable Housing site, announced Blair Lekstrom, MLA for Peace River South and Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

STRONGER HOUSING & SERVICE LINKS FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN
VICTORIA – There will be stronger links to more permanent forms of housing and better integration of support services for women and children fleeing violence, as a result of the realignment of the transition house and outreach and counselling programs and services.

PROVINCE EXTENDS FUNDING FOR VANCOUVER HEAT SHELTERS
VANCOUVER – The Province and the City of Vancouver have reached an agreement about the future operations of the Homeless Emergency Action Team (HEAT) shelters, Housing and Social Development Minister Rich Coleman announced.

PROVINCE TO SELL 11 AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR $135,000
SALMON ARM – The Province will sell 11 two-bedroom strata apartments to qualified buyers as part of a unique affordable homeownership program in Salmon Arm, announced George Abbott, Shuswap MLA and Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation.

CAMP SUPPLEMENT RECEIVES FUNDING
VICTORIA – The Province has confirmed it will provide supplements to send children of income assistance and disability assistance clients to camp this summer. The Ministry of Housing and Social Development will begin to process applications for camp supplements immediately.
