WESTERN PREMIERS AGREE ON A PLAN FOR EI REFORM
DAWSON CITY - At the 2009 Western Premiers' Conference, premiers agreed to work in partnership with the federal government to make employment insurance fair for all Canadians. They welcomed the appointment of the federal working group on employment insurance (EI) and committed to making a joint submission to the committee.

THE GOVERNMENTS OF CANADA AND BRITISH COLUMBIA SIGN A MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT ON FRENCH-LANGUAGE SERVICES
VANCOUVER The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, and the Honourable Joan McIntyre, British Columbia’s Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations, today announced the signing of the Canada–British Columbia Agreement on Official Languages for 2009–2010 and 2010–2011. It supports practical measures to increase the province’s capacity to offer services to the Francophone community.

ENHANCED DRIVER'S LICENCE FOR U.S. BORDER GOES PUBLIC
VANCOUVER – British Columbians can start applying for B.C.’s Enhanced Driver’s Licence (EDL)– a driver’s licence that also allows the cardholder to cross into the United States at land or water ports of entry between Canada and the United States with a single piece of identification. B.C. is also offering an Enhanced Identification Card (EIC) for persons who do not drive and for young adults over the age of 12 years.
