SPEECH FROM THE THRONE
VICTORIA - The Honourable Steven L. Point, the Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia, will deliver the Speech from the Throne Tuesday, February 9. The throne speech will be broadcast live throughout the province on the legislative assembly channel and webcast live on the legislative assembly website starting at 1:15 p.m. The Lieutenant-Governor will arrive in front of the legislature at approximately 1:40 p.m.

VICTORIA – The second session of the 39th Parliament of British Columbia was launched today with a speech from the throne.

PEACE ARCH – The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay visited the United States of America to celebrate the strong ties between British Columbia and Washington State and between Canada and the United States.

AGREEMENT REACHED WITH HEALTH FACILITIES EMPLOYEES
VICTORIA – The Facilities Bargaining Association, representing over 47,000 health-care workers, has reached a tentative agreement on a two-year contract with the Health Employers Association of B.C., Finance Minister Colin Hansen announced.

VANCOUVER – Recognizing francophones from all parts of Canada for their contribution to the success of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, including athletes and their families, coaches, volunteers, individuals and communities, will be a highlight of Canadian Francophonie Day on Feb. 13.
