B.C. INVESTS $27.4M IN HOUSING FOR HOMELESS IN VICTORIA
March 19, 2009 – Housing and Social Development Minister Rich Coleman announces the provincial investment of $27.4 million for two new supportive housing developments in Victoria. The 525 Ellice Street development broke ground March 19, 2009 and will provide 83 shelter beds, 20 extreme weather response beds, 23 transitional housing units and two emergency family shelter units. The 950 Humboldt Street development will provide about 43 housing units with integrated support services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

SIDNEY PROJECT MEANS A BETTER WASTEWATER SYSTEM
Feb. 20, 2009 – Saanich North and the Islands MLA Murray Coell and Saanich-Gulf Islands MP Gary Lunn with Acting Sidney Mayor Cliff McNeil-Smith at the announcement of federal/provincial funding to upgrade Sidney’s wastewater system. The project work includes the installation of a new sanitary sewer, pump station works, restoration works and utility crossings.
