  • The Province significantly increased child-care subsidy rates as well as the income threshold from $21,000 to $38,000. This program supports more than 25,000 children from low and moderate income families every month – an annual investment of almost $130 million (up from $94 million in 2004/05).
  • The province created 3,300 quality, licensed child-care spaces throughout the province since 2001 and aims to create an additional 2,000 by 2010.
  • Twenty million in quality enhancement funding has been distributed for child-care providers to make quality improvements such as professional development, minor capital improvements, equipment and supplies.
  • B.C. continues to provide more than $60 million annually in child-care operating funding. In fact, the provincial government plans to invest nearly $300 million for child-care services this year.
