2008-07-22 - On July 22, 2008, Mary Polak, Minister of Healthy Living and Sport was joined by Olympian snowboarder Mark Fawcett to lead delegates of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) Summit on an ActNow BC walk along the Stanley Park Seawall. A new PNWER tradition encourages delegates to take their business meetings outside by walking instead of sitting indoors.

2008-07-16 - Healthy Living and Sport Minister Mary Polak shoots the starting pistol for the Tour de Gastown on July 16, 2008. The race featured a super-fast 1.2 km course with North America's top riders battling wheel-to-wheel for more than $15,000 in cash prizes. Proceeds from the race are going to the BC Cancer Foundation to be used for cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.
