CANADIAN 08/09 SHORT TRACK TEAMS SELECTED AT OLYMPIC VENUE

Minister Polak presents a medal to Marie-Andree Mendes-Campeau of Quebec, one of the members of Canada's Short Track Speed Skating team selected during the 2008 Fall World Cup Selection event at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum, Sept. 16-18.

September 18, 2008 – Minister Polak presents a medal to Marie-Andree Mendes-Campeau of Quebec, one of the members of Canada's Short Track Speed Skating team selected during the 2008 Fall World Cup Selection event at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum, Sept. 16-18. Jessica Hewitt of Kamloops also earned a spot on the Canadian team.

The event gave competitors a chance to skate at the venue that will be used for the 2010 Olympic Games. The  second event in the upcoming season of World Cup competitions events also takes place at the Pacific Coliseum, Oct. 24-26.

She was joined by Kelowna mayor Sharon Shepherd (far right), Penticton-Okanagan MLA Bill Barisoff and Harry Caine (far left), who championed the Lions Wellness Park in Tsawwassen. Following through on a commitment from the 2008 throne speech, the ActNow BC Seniors Community Parks are designed to help older adults stay mobile, physically active and healthy in their communities.
2008-09-23 - Minister Polak tries physical activity equipment during the launch of the ActNow BC Seniors Community Parks, which will be located throughout the province in 18 communities. Following through on a commitment from the 2008 throne speech, the ActNow BC Seniors Community Parks are designed to help older adults stay mobile, physically active and healthy in their communities.
