UNIQUE MOBILE LAB TO UNLOCK B.C.'S BONE-HEALTH SECRETS
August 7, 2009

Healthy Living and Sport Minister Ida Chong learns first-hand from Dr. Heather McKay director, Centre for Hip Health and Mobility, how the new DEXA scanner installed in the just-launched Centre for Hip Health and Mobility’s mobile research lab will create a snapshot of the bone health of B.C. residents. The DEXA scanner is a gold standard clinical instrument that evaluates proximal femur, lumbar spine bone mass and density. It can also measure total body bone, fat and muscle mass. The DEXA scanner is part of the new hip health mobile research lab unveiled August 7 at Vancouver General Hospital.
