VICTORIA – Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations Joan McIntyre (left) honoured Francophone and Francophile athletes from British Columbia as part of the province’s annual Francophone Day celebration March 12. Minister McIntyre presented Carly Grigg of Victoria with a plaque honouring her achievements as a para alpine skier preparing for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Also honoured were Michelle Bartlemann, skeleton competitor, of Squamish and Erinne Winnock, road cyclist, of Victoria. McIntyre told about 100 guests at the legislature rotunda event for Francophone Day that the talents of Canada’s Francophone and Francophile athletes will serve to reinforce Canada’s linguistic duality.
