Three-Week Work Search

Overview: October 22, 2007

Effective: October 22, 2007

During Stage 1 of the application process, applicants are assessed as to whether they are required to complete a three-week work search or if they are exempt from this requirement.  The intent of this requirement is to emphasize that income assistance is a program of last resort intended to be provided on a temporary basis.  A three-week work search ensures that applicants pursue employment before relying on income assistance.

This requirement applies to applicants under the Employment and Assistance Regulation and Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Regulation, unless one of the exemptions applies.
