Employment Programs and Community Services

Overview

Effective: December 18, 2008

The Employment Programs and Community Services category provides information about employment supports available through various ministry and non-ministry sources.  These include:

  • Community Assistance Program (CAP) - provides multi-barriered clients with a range of lifeskill services and supports to enhance their quality of life and to help them participate more fully in their communities.

  • Bridging Employment Programs (BEP) - provides services to assist survivors of violence and abuse to overcome employment barriers that prevent them from making successful transitions to sustainable employment.

  • British Columbia Employment Program (BCEP) - provides employment services and supports designed to meet the needs of individual BC Employment & Assistance Clients who are deemed Expected to Work or Expected to Work-Medical Condition.  The BCEP replaces two of the ministry’s employment programs, Training for Jobs and Job Placement, and includes the employment-focused aspects of the Community Assistance Program.

  • Employment Program for Persons with Disabilities (EPPD) – provides a range of specialized services to help individuals with disabilities participate in their communities, pursue their employment goals as they are able, increase their self-reliance, and build skills and experience that may lead to further employment or volunteer opportunities (see Category Employment Strategy for Persons with Disabilities)

  • Direct Purchase (DP) - provides individualized support to clients where contracted services are not available or where clients need employment-related supports to participate in ministry contracted programs

  • Non-Ministry Funded Employment Programs and Services - includes major employment programs funded through federal government, provincial government, and other ministry partners
