Medical Equipment - Orthoses
Overview: September 27, 2010
Effective: September 27, 2010
The least expensive, appropriate orthoses may be provided to eligible clients to meet a medically essential need. There must be no other resources available to the client to provide the item requested.
Orthoses are items that are applied externally to the limb or body to provide support, protection or replacement of lost function. They are also commonly known as an orthosis, orthotic, brace, or splint.

Equipment and Assistive Technology Initiative
Individuals who have a disability and an employment goal, and who are eligible to participate in Labour Market Agreement (LMA) programs (unemployed and not eligible for EI or reachback benefits OR employed, low-skilled and wanting to upgrade their skills) may be able to obtain assistive technology through the Equipment and Assistive Technology Initiative (EATI).
