Access to Information and Protection of Privacy

Information that is necessary for the management of the income assistance programs may be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the provisions set out in the Employment and Assistance Act, Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPP) Act and Regulations.

The FOIPP Act provisions include the following:

  • an individual’s right of access to his or her personal information

  • an individual’s right to request correction of his or her personal information

  • the public’s right of access to records held by public bodies

  • prevention of the unauthorized collection, use, or disclosure of personal information by public bodies

  • an independent review of decisions made under its authority
