BRITANNIA BEACH - Colin Hansen, Minister of Economic Development joined Gary Lunn, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and West Vancouver-Garibaldi MLA Joan McIntyre, in the opening of the Britannia Beach mine museum September 29, 2006. In April 2005 the federal and provincial governments announced that the Britannia Beach Historical Society would receive $2 million from the Canada-BC Infrastructure Program to refurbish the mine's concentrator building, the last remaining example of a gravity-fed concentrator mill. The refurbished building will become part of the larger Britannia Project, a public showcase about the history of mining.
