VANCOUVER - Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan carries the Olympic flag in a procession to the Official Flag Raising Ceremony at Vancouver City Hall, February 28, 2006, accompanied by Colin Hansen, Minister of Economic Development, Whistler Mayor Ken Melamed, Councillor Carleen Thomas Tsleil-Waututh Council, representing the 2010 Four Host First Nations, and VANOC CEO John Furlong. An Honour Guard consisting of members of the Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver Fire& Rescue Services escorted the dignitaries.
VANCOUVER - The Olympic flag raised at Vancouver City Hall, February 28, 2006 will fly on a 24 metre flagpole throughout the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The flag symbolizes Vancouver's tenure as an Olympic City, from now until 2010. The Olympic flag will then be handed over at the end of the 2010 Winter Olympics to the host city of the 2014 Winter Games.
