On October 1, 2007, Premier Gordon Campbell (pictured, left), GE chief marketing officer Dan Henson (right) and Colin Hansen, Minister of Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Olympics, announced the latest step towards the revitalization of Robson Square. B.C.'s three year, $1.6 million sponsorship agreement with GE will help reopen the ice skating rink in downtown Vancouver. The rink, which had previously been closed in 2000, will now be known as the GE Ice Plaza and will be renovated and rebuilt and set to reopen in the winter of 2008. The GE Plaza will offer people of all ages a fun, free and vibrant public place to go and become part of the Olympic spirit during
the 2010 Games.
