  • The three-year, $28.5-million Air Action Plan lays out 28 initiatives to improve air quality across B.C. by promoting clean transportation, clean industry and clean communities.
  • All new electricity projects developed in B.C. will have zero net greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Your B.C. government is providing $25 million to establish and enhance B.C.'s Bioenergy Network.
  • In 2007 your B.C. Government passed the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Act, which legally requires all public-sector organizations to be carbon neutral by 2010.
  • In 2008, the Province launched the first phase of the revenue-neutral Carbon Tax, triggering a return of $217 million in personal tax cuts, and $121 million in business tax cuts this year. Tax cuts continue to increase as the Carbon Tax rate increases over the next three years, with a total of $880 million in personal and individual tax reductions in 2010/2011.
  • The $60-million LiveSmart BC initiatives program includes a wide range of rebates, tax exemptions and other incentives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save money.
  • Since 2001, your B.C. Government has established 57 new parks, 129 conservancies, one ecological reserve and eight protected areas, and expanded more than 50 parks and six ecological reserves, protecting more than 1.8 million hectares. This is an area almost three times the size of P.E.I.
