2023 Wildfire and Drought Recovery Initiative

Last updated on April 17, 2024

B.C.’s producers now have access to additional help in recovering from the extraordinary expenses incurred as a result of drought and wildfire in 2023.

The 2023 Canada – British Columbia Wildfire and Drought Recovery Initiative was designed to help offset extraordinary expenses for:

  • Livestock feed as a result of decreased pasture availability
  • Ensuring animal health, safety and welfare
  • Fire clean-up
  • Transportation, mustering and livestock mortality
  • Replacing apiaries, bee colonies and beekeeping equipment
  • Repair or replacement of critical infrastructure not covered by insurance

The 2023 Canada - British Columbia Wildfire and Drought Recovery Initiative is cost-shared between the federal and provincial governments on a 60-40 percent ratio. AgriRecovery is not intended to compensate for production or farm income losses covered under Agricultural Business Risk Management programs including AgriStability or Production Insurance. Please call 1-888-332-3352 before January 21, 2024, to speak with us about these existing programs.
