Indigenous Engagement

The project occurs within the traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking people know as Esquimalt Nation and Songhees Nation in addition to other Coast Salish Indigenous communities.

The project team is working collaboratively with Songhees Nation and Esquimalt Nation to develop cultural and economic development opportunities, and opportunities to advance reconciliation and self-determination.

The province is committed to continuing to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities affected by the project to meet its obligations and commitments to Indigenous peoples.
