Compare by who uses your service

It's important to know who will use your service. The options will vary depending on if the people who use your service:

 

People who work with or in the public sector 

If your service is for: 

  • Employees of the B.C. government 
  • Contractors that work for the B.C. government 
  • Employees of a B.C. broader public sector organization  

The ID services available are: 

In the future, there may also be an Employee digital credential that employees could use to prove they are an employee. Please contact the Digital Trust team to discuss. 

People who work in a business

If your service is for: 

  • Owners, employees or legal representatives of a business registered in B.C. 

The ID services available are: 

If you use a BC Services Card Account or a BCeID, you will not receive business information. It will only identify who the person is logging in. If you need information about the business as well, you could:

  • Collect the information yourself 
  • Use OrgBook to get verified information about a business - such as its business number

If your service is for lawyers registered in B.C., you may be able to use the new Lawyer digital credential available from the Law Society of B.C. Contact the Digital Trust team to discuss. 

In the future, there may also be a Business digital credential that a person could use to prove their business and their role or ownership of the business. Contact the Digital Trust team to discuss.  

People in the general public

If your service is for: 

  • People who live in B.C. 
  • People who live in Yukon 
  • People who elsewhere in Canada
  • People who live outside of Canada

The ID services available are: 

The ID service of Personal BCeID is still in use - but it’s retiring soon. 

Coming soon, there will be a Person digital credential that people can use to prove who they are, according to the B.C. Government. Contact the Digital Trust team to discuss.
