Some ID services are more established than others. We've listed the ID services by what's recommended. Plus, some emerging options that are coming soon.
Recommended
The following options are the common ones that are used by most services.
- BC Services Card Login
- Business BCeID
- Basic BCeID, when you need little to no assurance about who the person is
- IDIR
Approved alternatives
The following options only should be used in some situations.
- Federated accounts (including Yukon)
- GitHub account associated to the B.C. government
Emerging options
The following options are in development and are not yet fully supported.
- Digital Credentials (such as a Person credential)
- Microsoft guest account
Retiring
The following used to be accepted by many services but are soon being phased out.
- Personal BCeID
Other ways to compare ID services
Compare by:
- Who uses your service (public sector, businesses, general public)
- How confident you need to be that an individual or organization is who they claim to be (level of assurance)
- What information is available about a person or organization
