Federated accounts

A federated account is provided by another organization (such as a BPS organization) and is used to log in to a B.C. government service. People can use the username and password in their organization, instead of getting a B.C. government IDIR account.

Overview:

  • There are approximately 50 organizations that are connected to B.C. government services (as of Nov 2022)
  • You can be confident the person is who they’re claiming to be, according to that organization
  • You can use for people representing that organization

People must have:

  • An account provided by that organization

Other considerations

  • The organization must have a system connection to B.C. government ID services
  • Depending on the system connect, you may be able to get information about the person and their organization
